Sapiens is an exciting humility lesson (can a humility lesson be exciting? Definitely YES) impeccably written by Yuval Noah Harari, professor of World History at Oxford and at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University. It is impossible to comprehend today’s world and foresee its future if our starting point is the Industrial Revolution. The author takes us through three previous revolutions which have been crucial to understanding our present human behaviour: cognitive revolution (70,000 years ago), agriculture revolution (12,000 years ago) and scientific revolution (which started 500 years ago). We need to understand how and why humans jumped from a middle point in the food pyramid to an absolute dominant position when we were not genetically made for it, to decode the way we behave in 2019 and try to figure out what our next steps will be as a species. As Harari says: “A huge part of history is about this question: how to convince millions of people to make them believe in specific tales about gods, nations or limited responsibility societies?”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind.
