La campanya es deia &#8220;Onslaught&#8221; (&#8220;atac&#8221;) i acabava amb una call to action molt inquietant: &#8220;Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does&#8221; (Parla amb la teva filla abans que no ho faci la ind\u00fastria cosm\u00e8tica). Avui, una de les meves principals motivacions com a individu \u00e9s ajudar a crear un entorn on el g\u00e8nere no sigui quelcom limitant ni discriminatori (per a resumir-ho en una frase).<\/p>\n<p>11 anys despr\u00e9s d &#8216;aquesta campanya, Gina Rippon, doctora brit\u00e0nica en neuroci\u00e8ncia cognitiva i professora a la Universitat d&#8217;Aston (Birmingham), va llan\u00e7ar el seu llibre <em>The Gendered Brain: The new Neuroscience that shatters the myth of the female brain.<\/em> All\u00e0, Rippon desmunta totes les assumpcions (que ella bateja com &#8220;neurotrash&#8221;) segons les quals existeix un cervell femen\u00ed i un altre de mascul\u00ed. El cervell, en s\u00ed, no t\u00e9 cap sexe predefinit. Per a dir-ho d&#8217;una altra manera: ni els homes s\u00f3n de Mart ni les dones de Venus, al menys de f\u00e0brica. Atorgar un sexe a l&#8217;\u00f2rgan que tot ho regeix no \u00e9s un tema estructural, sin\u00f3 que est\u00e0 directament relacionat amb els missatges i biaixos que, des de nadons, els \u00e9ssers humans rebem socialment. La plasticitat del cervell \u00e9s clau en el proc\u00e9s d&#8217;aprenentatge (i desaprenentatge) de rols. Per a Rippon &#8220;investigar com el m\u00f3n canvia el nostre cervell ajuda a entendre com \u00e9s el nostre cervell realment i qu\u00e8 podem arribar a fer amb ell&#8221;.
